The Gift of Wonder: Finding Magic in the Everyday

What is the gift of Wonder? And are you finding magic in the everyday moments?

Wonder is the 10th gift of your 12 gifts in 12 days - Your Blueprint for a Meaningful Life. It’s that wide-eyed, heart-full moment when you pause, take it all in, and think, "Wow."

It’s what keeps you curious and amazed by life’s beauty. It’s the sparkle in the stars, the mystery of love, and the thrill of trying something new. Wonder isn’t just reserved for kids on Christmas morning or for grand adventures—it’s a gift that’s available to all of us, every single day.

Today’s gift is Wonder- the magic of seeing the extraordinary... in the ordinary.

Why Do You Need Wonder in Your Life?

If wonder were a Christmas ornament, it would be a glittering snow globe, capturing a magical little scene inside, because wonder invites us to pause and marvel at life’s beauty.

But here’s the thing: as you grow older, life starts to feel like a never-ending to-do list. You’ve got boxes to check, bills to pay, and people to please. Somewhere along the way, the sparkle starts to fade. You forget to stop and notice the wonder that’s all around you. And here’s the truth: Wonder hasn’t gone anywhere. It’s just waiting for you to slow down, look up, and find it again.

Wonder reminds you that life isn’t just about surviving—it’s about living.

My Story of Cultivating Wonder
Come along with me… It was Christmas Eve in the Bahamas. Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Velma, you’re just trying to make us all jealous.” Stick with me—I promise there’s a point to this story!

It was late. Everyone else had already turned in for the night, tucked into their beds and dreaming of sugarplums… or maybe a plate of leftover holiday cookies. But me? I wasn’t tired. I needed a moment to breathe. To just be. So, I quietly slipped outside and started walking.

The air was crisp and fresh, almost like the whole world had just been washed clean. And then I looked up.

Friends, the night sky was breathtaking. It was so quiet, so still—like time itself had frozen just for me. It was as if a little voice whispered, "Slow down. This is what life is about." And you know what? That voice was right. I stood there, completely mesmerized.

That, my friend, is Wonder

How Can You Cultivate the Gift of Wonder, Everyday?

Now, I know not everyone can jet off to the Bahamas to stargaze (though if you get the chance, 10/10 recommend 🌌). But Wonder isn’t found just in the Bahamas. It isn’t found just in the BIG, magical moments. It’s in the little ones, too—the ones you’re probably walking right past.

Here are three ways you can keep the gift of Wonder, everyday:

1. Pause and Look Up -When’s the last time you looked at the sky? I mean really looked? Whether it’s a bright blue day, a sunset that sets the clouds on fire, or a sky full of stars, take a moment to pause and look up. The sky’s been putting on a show for you every day—don’t miss it.

2. Notice the Little Things -Wonder doesn’t have to be BIGg. It’s in the frost sparkling on the trees, the sound of your kid’s laughter, or the smell of fresh coffee in the morning. Slow down long enough to see it, smell it, hear it—and be grateful for it.

3. Be Curious Ask questions. Explore. Try something new. Wonder thrives when you approach the world with curiosity, just like you did when you were a kid. So go ahead—read about something random, learn a new hobby, or take a walk somewhere you’ve never been. Who knows what you might discover?

Let’s Wrap This Up

Wonder isn’t something you have to wait for. It’s already here—in the small, beautiful moments all around you. So today, slow down. Look up. And let yourself be amazed by the magic you’ve been too busy to see.

Because friend, life is so much better when you live it with a sense of Wonder.

I’m cheering 📣 for you!
